Look Book for Anna Sui’s Gossip Girl-esque Line Leaks
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Girls, Women, Bottoms, Skirts, Dresses, Tops,
As if the fall release date wasn’t torturous enough, fans of Anna Sui and Gossip Girl now have the look book to fawn over until then.
The nineteen looks (which you can see after the jump) are based upon the individual styles of Blair, Jenny, Vanessa, and Serena. Of all sets, I think that Blair’s classy, high-collared looks are the cutest; Serena’s monochrome would have won if it weren’t for the vest and leggings with bows. Jenny’s black, red, and white palette strike me as punk-inspired and have potential; however, I tend to fear the prints and patterns used. Vanessa’s set is very bohemian, although I’m not sure as to why they chose such an ugly palette of orange and brown.
You can expect to see Anna Sui’s line hit Target stores and online starting September 13.

Jennifer Lopez Shelves Sweetface Line
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,
Jennifer Lopez now has one less thing to juggle in her life.
Six years after launching the Sweetface brand, the singer/dancer/actress/mother is putting the clothing line on hiatus. Although the company plans to “reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view,” no target date has been announced.
Sweetface - a collection of high-end urban streetwear - is a spinoff of the star’s original line. Items from JLO by Jennifer Lopez can still be purchased outside the United States.
Right now, Lopez is working on her return to the big screen. She’s currently filming The Back-Up Plan (formerly titled Plan B), a romantic comedy about a woman who undergoes artificial insemination.

Queen Latifah‘s been a rapper, an actor, a CoverGirl spokeswoman and a Jenny Craig user. A fragrance creator was the natural next step.
By venturing into the world of perfume, the Oscar nominee joins the ranks of a million other celebrities before her. How will Queen by Queen Latifah differ from the rest? Well, the Parlux Fragrances scent will combine notes of notes of mandarin, jasmine, cognac, Moroccan coriander and Egyptian musk. (Based on the description, it might just make a nice wine as well.)
When asked why she delved into the aromatic industry, Latifah gave the typical crafted response. “Beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love, if you will. So I see a fragrance as just a natural expression of this state of love: Scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality, it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength,” she claimed. Blah, blah, blah. One day, I dare someone to say “Because I know what smells good, and it ain’t you.”
A 1.7 oz bottle of the fragrance will sell for $49 when it hits stores in August.

Claire Danes Gets Wedding Help from Narciso Rodriguez
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
For Claire Danes’ wedding day, the actress will have something old, something new…and a gown from someone tried and true.
Danes recently revealed that close friend Narciso Rodriguez will be her other man on that big day. When she walks down the aisle to marry Evening co-star Hugh Dancy, the 30-year-old will be wearing an original from the designer.
“He’s making it. I get weepy. .. more emotional than I was expecting,” Danes told People about the “intimate” collaboration. Although she’s been contributing to the process, Claire has complete faith in Narciso’s work. “I’m offing my ideas, but they always pale in comparison to his.”
No date has been announced for the nuptials. The couple announced their engagement earlier this year after more than a year of dating.

Christopher Kane Answers Your Questions

Scottish designer Christopher Kane actually wants to give you the time of day! In an effort to gauge interest in the unveiling of his Topshop line due this Fall, Kane will be answering questions on their blog.
While this isn’t the first time that he has collaborated with Topshop, this will be his largest at 39 pieces (shoes and bags, too!).
“This is more than a capsule collection. It’s proper: with bags, shoes, knitwear and dresses. It’s nothing like any other work I’ve done in the past. Everything is a bit ‘wow.’ But If I tell you any more, I’ll be giving the theme away,” the designer explained to Grazia‘s Melanie Rickey.
If you’ve got anything about him that’s picking your brain, now’s the time to ask! Post up your questions on Topshop’s blog before this Wednesday, June 17th. Hurry and don’t waste space with incompetent questions!

Animal lovers in both France and the states (and hopefully the world) have much to rejoice for this week, as both first ladies Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy have officially pledged to kick all of the fur out of their closets.
First was Sarkozy, whose wardrobe was directly spotlighted when a letter from PETA U.S. was leaked to the Associated Press.
Slightly irked by the all-too convenient leak, Sarkozy wrote to Dan Matthews, senior vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals U.S.:

Lindsay Lohan to become House of Emanuel Ungaro creative consultant
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,
Lindsay Lohan is reportedly in talks to become the House of Emanuel Ungaro’s “creative consultant”. The ‘Mean Girls’ actress is said to be discussing the role with label bosses in Paris, although head designer of the brand Esteban Cortazar is reportedly unhappy with the move. A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Esteban is threatening to leave the company if they bring Lindsay on as a consultant. It has been a revolving door of designers there and if he leaves, his team will go with him. Ungaro thinks Lindsay is going to bring the company new energy and new buzz, but she is going to be the nail in the coffin. Nobody will take them seriously ever again.”
Esteban joined the label in 2007 when he was 23, and was praised after his first collection debuted last year. The fashion house is no stranger to working with celebrities. In 2008, the label and Avon teamed up to launch two fragrances - U by Ungaro for Her and U by Ungaro for Him - which Reese Witherspoon was the face of. Lindsay has previously spoken of her love of fashion, and has her own range of leggings and fake tan. She featured in the Spring/Summer 09 campaign for Italian fashion line Fornarina, and would love to do more modeling. She has said: “I love doing photo shoots. I mean, if I could just sign with IMG and do ad campaigns and model more, I’d do that because that’s fun for me. That’s not work.”
Esteban’s lawyer gave no comment on the claims, while a representative for the House of Emanuel Ungaro did not return calls.
Liam Gallagher wants someone to kill him if he wears tight jeans. The Oasis singer - whose fashion label Pretty Green launched yesterday - hates the recent trend for men to wear slim-fitting trousers and has no intention of succumbing to it. He said: “I’m not into the skinny look and pointy shoes. They’re just not on - they’re for girls. I have never worn a pair of pointy shoes in my life and I never will. If you ever see me in a pair, drive over me. That and spray-on jeans”. The 36-year-old singer decided to embark on a career as a designer after becoming bored of the clothes men’s shops stock.
Although he admits Pretty Green - which he works on with tailor Nick Holland - with not be a trailblazing label, he is adamant it will be successful. He told Britain’s GQ magazine: “My role is, ‘Right, let’s do a jacket or a coat like this,’ and Nick goes away with my ideas and brings them to life. It’s a long-term project. People might laugh at it and it might not work out, that’s why I am going to be doing clothes that I like rather than making them for someone else. At the very least I will get a wardrobe out of it. And I think people will dig it. It’s not reinventing the wheel - it will be a classic parka or trench coat. Nothing crazy going on.”
